My first body-mind awareness was given during my active Baseball youth: 'Don´t think when you hit the ball'. And then later it came back during my party period: 'Dancing feels so good without thinking!' But the thinking was always there... not about hitting or dancing but
about the world and humanity. It gave me worries and an uncomfortable feeling. In 2005 I went travelling, got inspired by meditation and started to study Ayurveda. I practiced some light yoga regularly and there came the feeling to develop more body awareness.

I went to India in search for more awareness. I lived in ashrams, studied with teachers, took the Leap to Lanka (Sri Lanka) and there I found Ashtanga Yoga with Anthony 'Prem' Carlisi and Heather Duplex. I stayed for 2 months and was hooked. I went back to India, practiced with Rolf and Marci Naujokat and also signed up for the 500 hr Ashtanga Vinyasa teacher training in the following year at the Brahmani Yoga Center. Taking part in this TTC was a transforming experience and after the training I stayed to practice with Ken 'The Rolfer' (Rolfing is a physically applied practice) an authorized Ashtanga Teacher. Working with Ken was great. He asked me to start co/teaching in Istanbul at YogaSala studio in the summer 2009. After this I went back to Holland and felt the need to teach about awareness and freedom for those in between walls. So at the moment I teach at detention centers. And also at other places, because for everybody the prison is only in the mind!
